Summary

Nick McKernan is a Baltimore-based artist whose path into animation can be summed up as one long, inevitable surprise. Originally from Oregon, he performed as a stage actor, musician, and filmmaker between various hospitality and education jobs before discovering an intense love for animation. In 2017, he applied to the Maryland Institute College of Art. In 2021, he received his BFA in Animation.

Nick’s work has been described as psychedelically-charged, exploring themes of gender fluidity, systemic inequality, and communal love, and has screened domestically and internationally. He currently works as an Animator + Editor at LAI Video in Washington DC, and lives in Baltimore, MD.
