Agnes Gummere

Bio

Agnes Gummere is an artist whose work ranges from figure painting, portraits, interior design, and illustration. Throughout her lifelong passion for making art, she has channeled influences from art history, centuries-old oil painting techniques, as well as digital mediums. Growing up in Philadelphia, and earning her Bachelors of Science in Interior Design from Drexel University Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, she has always found inspiration from the city’s rich history of art, design and architecture, as well as museums and galleries. Agnes’s creative practice stems from both her genuine enjoyment of painting, as well as a passion for portraying people, capturing their sense of character and emotion in layers of oil paint created over time. Her body of work, including formal portrait commissions, other depictions of the human form, and architectural illustrations, incorporates oil paint, pastel, and graphite, layered to achieve an ambient quality of light, texture, dimension, and realism. Her style is realistic, overlaid with drips, abrasions, and markings, as indications and appreciation of the painting process.
